Trinity Blown Away
In terrible conditions the Old Xavs managed to survive a first quarter onslaught with Old Trinity coming out harder and more determined. Kicking with the wind the OT’s had multiple scoring opportunities and should have been further infront at the break. Brendan Goss’ late goal was important and meant that the damage done in the first quarter wasn’t too great.
Coach Lethlean let his men know that their performance to date was not acceptable, and they responded in kind with greater commitment at the contest and better use of the ball. Goss added another 3 to his tally and the onballers were creating multiple opportunities for the forward to convert. The Xavs didn’t receive much resistance after quarter time with the opposition adding only the 1 point to the scoreboard. Nick ‘Sticks’ Bye put in a fine performance in his farewell game before heading overseas indefinitely. Mercuri and Howard cleared out the remaining World Cup cobwebs and were bothe valuable contributors. Matt Ball was impressive all day, and Ryan Colbert continued his great form.
The Reserves had a big win with their opponents only scoring the one behind for the day. Coach Landrigan was pleased with the four quarter performance and the form of some of the younger players in Ulbrick, Agius, Skidmore, and Stean!
Pictures of both games can be found in the match reports!
The Thirds had an easy day with their opposition forfeiting, and the Crocs all but cemented a top 2 finish with an impressive victory over De La Salle.
The Under 19 Premier side got home by a couple of goals versus Old Camberwell, while the 2’s went down to Mazenod.
