Crocs Finals Preview

The Season

The Crocs enjoyed a spectacular undefeated home and away season, finishing with an imperfect, Bradman-esque 399.16%. It would be unfair to single out any one player that cost us the magical 400%, so I will single out two – James McDonnell and Matt O’Kane, whose calamitous attempt to combine for a close range goal at Stradbroke Park in Round 5 ultimately proved the difference.

That said we have put together a number of fine performances over the duration of the season, and I am very proud of what we have achieved to date. From knocking off Old Melburnians a couple of times to fronting up to Darling Park on no less than four occasions, the season has by no means been easy, and we are very much looking forward to…

The Finals

So now after 20 weeks of training, 15 rounds of games and two marriages (well done Malla and Griggy – we wish you all the happiness in the world for your new lives together), the finals are upon us. A re-jigged format sees a three week, six team series in which only the top team is guaranteed of the double chance. Second place Old Melburnians loom as the strongest challenger, while perennial Club XVIII competitors De La Salle and Prahran Assumption will be surely looking to cause some trouble in the Super 6 format. The holiest of the finalists, St. Bernard’s and NOBs / St. Pat’s, will be hoping they can immaculately conceive a premiership, and could prove challenging on their day.

We are proud to be kicking off the finals campaigns for the Old Xaverians this weekend against De Le Salle, and would ask that every man, woman and child (under 6 get in for free) come down to Elsternwick to support us this Sunday at 2:20pm.
