John Noonan was a rucking legend for the club in the 1970s. He won 5 Best and Fairests, (four of them consecutively) and led his teams as captain to premierships in 1978 (C Section), 1980 (B Section) and 1981 (A Section). Undoubtedly one of the finest players ever to pull on the Red and Black, his last onfield duty was hoisting aloft the Xavs' first ever LA Adamson Cup. His brother-in-law, Michael Green, coached the Old Xavs in 1980-81 and his son Daniel was a club captain and premiership player with the club too.
