Lachie Ford was twice a premiership captain, hoisting the Cup alongside Michael Sholly in 2003 and Barry Richardson in 2005. He won the club's Best and Fairest in 2002, his first of four years as skipper. He was a six-time premiership player overall, playing on the wing and at half back, where his fearless attack on the ball and long-striding caused havoc for many opposition defences. He was an uncompromising competitior who refused to be beaten.
