SKOB GOLD GO THROUGH DESPITE BRAVE PERFORMANCE
The season ended for Healy's Heroes when they fell to an experienced, well-credentialled and skilful SKOB outfit at Elsternwick today.
The Reds began brightly, displaying an aggression at the ball that never subsided, and led by a goal at the first change.
But the Tricolours moved into their work from the first bounce of the second stanza and had ten shots at the sticks during the term. Xavs were becalmed, and they trailed by more than four goals at the long break.
To their credit, the Reds kept at it, but each time they threatened to make it close, SKOB kicked away again. Xavs kept on threatening, often seizing the momentum, but it was to no avail as their best, saved for last, was bettered by the powerful Kevins.
After the game, Coach Shane Healy thanked his charges for their efforts during the season and praised them for sticking at it today under less than ideal circumstances. They will be hoping that their stablemates, the Menages, can slip through their clash with OMs tomorrow and take the crown next week.
