The U23 Reds defeated Uni Blues in a close fought prelim final at Coburg on Saturday. Conditions were not ideal, and the scores remained close throughout. The better start from the Reds proved the difference. Charlie Niall led the way with three of the team's four goals.

The win guaranteed Old Xaverians 81st premiership, as this week's decider will be a Showdown between the two Xavs U23 teams.
