MERRY CHRISTMAS
And all the best for 2025
On the eve of our eleventh team’s debut, Victoria has been locked down for a week by State Government order.
All community sport has been banned for the next seven days from midnight this evening, and as a consequence, this week’s Round 8 of VAFA games has been cancelled.
As stated in the VAFA’s Conditions of Play in a Covid-19 Environment policy, these games will not be re-scheduled at a later date.
This interruption to the 2021 season is unfortunate, though not surprising given the events of the week.
The VAFA is planning on Round 9 being played as usual, followed by the season’s first bye on the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
We will continue to keep the Old Xavs community updated with any new information as it comes to hand. It has been a fantastic 2021 season so far, highlighted by how our great club has come together and rebounded strongly in its 98th year, after the 2020 season was wiped out.
This is another hurdle but I know as a club we will overcome further challenges presented by the pandemic, and it’ll be fantastic to see our teams back out there competing soon.
