It was a quiet, but productive, Saturday for the Old Xavs yesterday.

While the Seniors, Reserves, Menages and U23s enjoyed a day off, both U19 teams and the Crocs all played, and all saluted.

U19 PREMIER

SHAW THINGS POWER UP TO HARPOON SHARKS

With some fairly handy players returning to the line-up, the Shaw Things were expected to put on a solid show against last season's grand final rival Beaumaris.

However, it was the Sharks who appeared the stronger in the early going, and the home team enjoyed a 16 point break.

After the half, a different story. The Red 'n' Blacks doubled the Beaumaris output in the second half, taking the lead in the final term and then holding tough to win. Jeremy Power, not seen since early June, was BOG. Micky Batten booted four and was always dangerous.

Next week, a road trip to Caulfield, and then a R18 clash at Stradbroke with De La Salle, the team it might well meet in the second semi-final a week later.

U19 RESERVES

PAT'S PUPS DROP DE LA AT DAIRY

A strong performance from the Pups saw them win by 20 points at Waverley Park. Jack Catania slotted another four and Harry Berogna was best on as the Red 'n' Blacks established the early ascendancy and did not let it go.

A trip to the Snakepit and a home clash with top-placed Old Scotch will determine if the Pups wear the black shorts or the white in the second semi-final.

CROCS SURVIVE MAGPIES

The Crocodile closed out their home and away season with a win over West Brunswick at Ransford Oval. The Diles led all the way and will now prepare for their second semi-final clash next week against the Hawthorn Spartans. Details of the time and venue of this clash will be known later this week.
