RALPH'S NEW ROLE
O'Shaughnessy is Xavs' Footy GM
With the Senior Men and Women enjoying their last hitouts before their Opening Day next Saturday, seven teams took the field yesterday in Week One.
The U23s, Menages and Crocs all won at Stradbroke Park. The three U19 teams all lost on the road in a rare concurrence, while the U23 Twos also went down.
In their final hitout before the season starteer next week, the WOX beat Old Camberwell, while out at Rowville, the undermanned Menn's senior team fell away late in the game to fall to the reigning EFL premier, while the Reserves hammered the Hawks.
Chopper Handley's U19 coaching career was off to a choppy start as his Premier team fell hard to St Kevin's at TH King. The Tricolors took charge early and never loosened their grip. Connor Spears was best for the vanquished against a strong Skobber team.
The Panthers pounced early, while the young Xavs took their time finding their feet. Despite the loss, there were some encouraging signs for the Red 'n' Blacks.
De La Salle dominated at Dairy Bell, cruising awy to take the R1 points.
After an even first term, it was all Red 'n' Blacks, with the home team scoring big at Straddy.
Will Honan's lads did it well, with Milky Forrest kicking five, aided by four from Josh 'Once Tooka' Hanger and Harry McCarthy.
(See Bridget Wilson gallery - no, your eyes are not deceiving you. The Xavs players had to wear a combination of different clash jumpers owing to a supplier issue)
Opening day smiles for the 'Diles, with another win on the confines of Stradbroke. Tom Lyon was named best in game 100.

The U23 Twos put up a great effort at Fearon, but the home team proved too strong. Many a giant tree has fallen here, so we can consider this a commendable performance. The points? Get them next week!
