MERRY CHRISTMAS
And all the best for 2025
The Old Xaverians Football Club is excited to announce the appointments of two great Old Xavs people to important roles within the club for season 2023.
Adam Sassi is the new Head of Strength and Conditioning and will commence his role this Thursday as pre-season training kicks off for all teams – men’s and women’s. Brendan 'BOS' O'Sullivan has expanded on his current role with the Under 19 program to be Head of Development, a great opportunity for BOS to showcase his skills and experience across the wider club for the benefit of more players, while staying close to the Under 19s.
Adam will fill the vacancy left by the much-loved Rob Grey who after 12 years and great success has decided the time is right to make a change. Sass has a long history with the Old Xavs, donning the red and black jumper 168 times and winning 4 Senior A-Grade premierships in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2000. In 2022, with his son Jude playing, he took on a fitness role with the Under 19s and worked closely with coach Daniel Rush to ensure the boys were the fittest and strongest on the park. Sassi's contribution to the group was immense and it was easy to see the positive impact he had on the group through the season, with the Under 19 Premier side going on to win the premiership.
Sass is a personal trainer and qualified marathon trainer, who has had extensive experience coaching, mentoring athletes and preparing training programs. His knowledge of strength and conditioning combined with his understanding of football and the high regard is held in at Old Xavs makes him a great asset and one that the players will surely benefit from. We are thrilled to have Adam back on board, and can't wait to see the results in 2023.
BOS has performed the role of Football Director for the Under 19s since 2011 and has had an incredible impact on the club over that time. He has been instrumental in identifying players and working with them to ensure their growth, while also providing great guidance for coaches. His passion for development and assisting players transition from Under 19s to senior footy had to be utilised, and the role is perfect for him. Having significant experience in development of skills, training standards and elite performance, BOS has a great eye for talent and fantastic soft skills that will definitely endear him to the playing group.
We are fortunate enough to have these fantastic people within the community, and all involved in the OXFC should be excited about these appointments. Now let's bring on pre-season and 2023!
