It was not to be for the courageous U23s this year, as they lost narrowly to SKOB on a windy Sunday morning at Sandy.

The St Kevin's team was bigger and stronger and eventually overcame the Red and Blacks, who ran themselves ragged in dominating the Tricolours for two and a half quarters.

Sadly, that advantage did not register on the scoreboard, with the X Men failing to kick a goal into the wind, while the Skobbers added a pair in very limited opportunities.

Coach Healy again had his team ready to go on the big stage, and at times, it appeared the Claret and Stout would kick clear. This was never more evident than midway through the third term, but in a flash, momentum shifted, SKOB got on top, and despite some herculean efforts, managed to stay there.

No flag this year, but a very solid and commendable effort. Congratulations all.
