VALE ANNE DENTON
Club matriarch passes away
The Old Xaverians Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Gabby Seymour as the Women's Football Director.
Gabby is a current Richmond AFLW player, having played 37 games for the Tigers in the ruck after previously representing Australia as a junior in volleyball. Gabby has finished on the podium of the Tigers' Best and Fairest three times, and was nominated for the MVP award in Season 7.
Off-field, she is a fully qualified physiotherapist and looking to transition into football administration during the next phase of her career. More recently, Gabby has been a representative for the AFLPA involved in negotiations with the AFL on women's sport and the collective bargaining agreement.
Gabby will look after the Women's program driving recruitment, fostering relationships with feeder schools, and representing the program on the committee. She's also keen to assist with training and helping the players develop new skills.
The club is extremely excited to have Gabby on board for our centenary year and believes she will be a great asset. Her understanding of women's sport and her enthusiasm and growth was clearly evident when meeting with her. Her positive demeanour will be sure to get the WOX up and about!
Gabby is currently in the USA with Richmond Tigers on a training camp, but will be back on shore on Monday February 20 to hit the ground running.
If you see Gabby, please introduce yourself and make her feel welcome.
