R15 WRAP

More ups and downs

August 5, 2023

Another weekend of that curious mixture of delight and disappointment. Fifteeen rounds gone and still plenty to play for.

SENIORS

SKATING ON THIN ICE

Despite good performances from two Big V representatives and a handful of youngsters, Xavs fell behind OMs in the first quarter and never recovered. With three rounds left, the Red 'n' Blacks are vulnerable. One win from three outings (v Uni Blues, @ Old Haileybury, v Old Brighton) should be enough for survival with Haileybury (@ Collegians, v Old Xavs, @ St Kevin's) and OMs (@ St Kevins, @ Uni Blues, v Caulfield) both a game plus plenty of percentage in arrears. Don't count on it, however. The closing rounds of any VAFA home and away season always produces an upset or two.
