RALPH'S NEW ROLE
O'Shaughnessy is Xavs' Footy GM
For three quarters, the Lions stalked their prey and when it seemed most likely they would pounce, the Red 'n' Blacks bared their own teeth and ran away to victory at Toorak Park today
Collegians had shown a strong attack on the ball and strong, systematic movement, but when the game was there to be won, it was the home team that stepped up several notches.
Tom Beaton was outstanding all day, but went to a new level in the final term when he provided dash and delivery to a forward line hungry to score. Ben Banting was another who dominated the stanza, rucking, running, marking and ensuring his team would win. The big Pony is in great form and many observers have him in pencilled in for a Saturday sleep-in.
Nick Nunan was supreme on the ground and in the air, again proving his immense value. Harry Batten and Nick MCann enjoyed excellent afternoons, while Matt Douglas might be off for treatment for a severe case of lead poisoning.
The Twos are still in second, one game behind De La Salle. Over the next three games, the Claret and Stout has an opportunity to put some space between themselves and the three teams immediately in their rear view mirror.
