MERRY CHRISTMAS
And all the best for 2025
Old Xaverians received an early Christmas present with the news that Will Hams will be wearing red and black in 2019.
The smooth moving 24 year old has been prominent in the Box Hill Hawks midfield for the past two seasons, after crossing from Essendon, where he played 13 AFL games and was a teammate of Alex Browne.
Hams played a starring role in the Hawks premiership success, was BOG in the preliminary final and runner-up in the club’s best and fairest.
Will was on Xavs’ list in 2018 but his consistent form at VFL level prevented him from turning out with the X-Men. In 2019, he will play exclusively with Old Xaverians, where he has a strong association with, among others, James Byrne and Matt Egan.
A native of Sale, Hams played at Gippsland Power and represented Vic Country at U18 level. He stands 180cm (5’11’’) and tips the scales at 71 kilos. He has plenty of speed, is hard at the contest and has a potent left foot.
Paul Satterley welcomed Hams’ commitment to the Old Xavs. ‘He’ll add bite to our stoppages with his toughness and his ability to find the football’, said the senior coach.’He’s a class act off the field too, and he’ll fit in well with our boys.’
