TWICE AS NICE

GOLD, GOLD, GOLD, AND ONLY GOLD
In 1998, Old Xaverians was a club with four teams, under half the size it is today.
Twenty years ago this month, the Crocodiles won their eighth premiership. It was their third consecutive flag and they would go on to win nine in a row, with the Club XVIII competition seemingly becoming a framework for Reptilian dominance.
In early September, the Old Xaverians U19 team saluted in the Grand Final. It was their fourth flag in seven years.
On the season's final day, the Seniors and Reserves both chaliced. For the Ones, coached for the first time by Tim O'Shaughnessy, it was their fourth flag on end, on the way to their straight six in six consecutive years, a record that will never be equalled or broken. The Reserves picked up their third flag in four years.
Four teams, four premierships. And to top it off, Xavier won the APS premiership too.
Last Friday night, representatives of the fpur Old Xavs teams gathered to celebrate their feats at the beautiful Auburn Hotel, one of the fine venues operated by our premier partner AVC.
A fine night was had by all and none of the premiership heroes have aged at all since their month of Red 'n' Black glory.
