The Old Xaverians Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Simon Bridgland last Monday. He was just 33.

Simon attended Xavier between 1996 and 2004 and played with the Red ‘n’ Blacks in the U19s after leaving school. Over several seasons, he became a solid and effective player, in the Reserves and more particularly with the Menages.

He continued his association with the Old Xavs and was seen at many Old Xavs’ games in recent years.

Our most sincere condolences to his family and friends, especially his parents Colleen and Dennis, sister Sammy and partner Peta.

Prayers for Simon will be offered at Immaculate Conception Church, 345 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn on Monday 23 December at 2.30 pm. A private cremation will follow.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
