Timothy John Hogan passed away on 13 February, aged 75.

“Lube”, as he was widely known, played for Old Xavs Reserves through the mid-sixties and seventies. Tim played well over one hundred games and was a member of the 1964 Reserves team that won the premiership under Bill Carroll.

Tim played in most positions but performed best as a ruck rover. In 1973, Tim captained the Reserves side as well as serving as a club committeeman. He once remarked that his time at the Old Xavs were among his best days and that he had made friends for life wearing the red and black.

Lube was also a celebrated oarsman, having commenced in the boats at XC. He won a swag of trophies including nine Victorian and NSW championships, Intervarsity and others in Lightweight 4s, 8s and Pairs.

In 2010, he made a comeback in Seniors rowing and competed in the World Championships in Berlin.

Tim was well known in the art world, as a valuer, a commission agent and the operator his own gallery business (started by his father). Later, he freelanced and his advice was widely sought.

He battled cancer for seven years before passing away. Our condolences to his partner Ami, children Amy, Sam and Tom and first wife Helen, as well as their extended family.
