RALPH'S NEW ROLE
O'Shaughnessy is Xavs' Footy GM
The Bears looked every inch a finals' contender as they proved too strong for the Gowans' Girls at Victoria Park.
A close tussle seemed on the cards early, but the home team applied scoreboard pressure better than did the visitors and finished the day well ahead.
Giulia Sgro-Ralph impressed for the vanquished, with solid support from Gabby Henderson and Indi Ellis. Sophia Rothfield goaled on debut, but her only partner in crime in that category was Kate Salemme, who kicked a brace.
An administrative error, however, could prevent the Brown and Gold from taking the points. Their playing squad for the afternoon allegedly featured 24 players, two above the maximum limit. Thus, the Bears were able to swing more rotations on the day, causing the young Xavs some extra problems.
No doubt the VAFA Forensic Unit will examine this during the week.

Bella Villani booted three and was best afield as the WOX 2s crushed the Tippers at Vic Park. The home team managed just two points, both in the second term, while the Red 'n' Blacks kept the board ticking over all afternoon.
Amelia Mauri, Zoe Purcell and Hannah Barwick were also stand-out performers, with Julia Halaseh and the consistent Amy Smith showing the way for many well-performed teammates.
